Reflecting on my year at MANGO
As the year comes to an end, so does my time at MANGO-OMC. Throughout my internship, I have been exposed to so many new aspects of the PR industry and I feel as though I have gained an all-new skill set.
The PR industry is very demanding and it requires you to be ‘online’ and available almost all the time. It’s possible that your phone could ring at any time, especially when there is an upcoming client event –I experienced this with the Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards, and I had absolutely no problem with it! It’s nice to constantly be on the go and busy as it’s extremely rewarding seeing the results of all of the hard work at the end of the project.
The part that I have enjoyed the most about this year is the planning and content creation side. I have really enjoyed working on Photoshop and developing creative posts for MANGO and our client’s social media channels. The most enjoyable part has been creating content that is visually appealing, informative and in line with the necessary corporate identity elements. Although enjoyable, this is sometimes difficult because being creative and sticking to guidelines isn’t always an ideal combination in my opinion, but it’s great to be handed challenges every once in a while!
Along with creating content, I have been exposed to a number of other tasks such as activity planning, interview setups and general media liaison and a bit of writing, to name a few. I’m so grateful to have had such a great experience with an awesome company and even more awesome colleagues who have not only showed me what it means to work hard and be productive, but also to enjoy every day at the office in a relaxed environment – which often means that we can sit back, relax and have a few laughs!
I have had such an enjoyable year and I have experienced so much. All that I have learned I will definitely carry with me in the years to come.
